Proposals would enable Cleaner Energy and Lower Utility Bills if passed

In response to Governor Hochul’s State of the State today and the release of her 2024 priorities, which include key provisions of the NY HEAT Act, Alliance for a Green Economy (AGREE) issued the following statement, which can be attributed Jessica Azulay, Executive Director:

As the fossil fuel companies continue to raise our heating bills and threaten our futures, we are thrilled to see the Governor support major proposals to bring New Yorkers the cleaner heat and lower bills we need. These measures, in line with pillars of the NY HEAT Act, will free ratepayers from having to fund costly gas pipelines, and enable us to move to cheaper and cleaner alternatives. We look forward to working with the Governor and the Legislature to protect New Yorkers from any fossil fuel industry attempts to stop these crucial measures, and ensure they pass in full in the upcoming final state budget.
